Will a thinner iPad Pro really make you more productive?

Apple’s latest iPads seem a little underbaked

After more than a year’s wait, the new iPad Pros and iPad Airs are finally here. But is it really the time to upgrade? And did Apple finally make the iPad lineup easier to shop and less confusing?

The short answer; no.

The longer answer; kinda. The new hardware released at the “Let loose” event last week lays the groundwork for a future where the lineup will be far simpler, as soon as Apple can stop selling legacy hardware. What makes the current lineup even more confusing is the fact that without a new version of iPadOS, we still don’t really know what the future of iPad is supposed to look like. As impressive as the new skinny hardware may be, these are still just iPads with Magic Keyboards and there is still no clear indication that these devices will move any closer to being real laptop alternatives anytime soon. The best we can hope for is that Apple will “let loose” and release a more macOS-like version of iPadOS at WWDC24 this year. But, after many years of Apple releasing stale versions of iPadOS , it’s hard for me to have much hope that this year will be any different.
