Apple marketing chief Greg Joswiak, known as Joz, and hardware chief John Ternus recently did an interview with The Independent to talk about the new M1 iPad Pros.

For the first time, Apple introduced an iPad Pro with a desktop-class processor, the same impressive desktop-class processor found in Apple’s latest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini. This new product caused a lot of speculation that Apple will merge macOS and iPadOS to create one OS to run on all their devices.

The old saying goes that where there’s smoke, there is usually fire. So let’s look for the fire.

When you look at the new iMac, it’s easy to see why people think macOS and iPadOS will merge. The iMac looks like a giant iPad Pro. Merging the two OSes feels like the natural next step.

The latest Mac operating system, called macOS Big Sur, has large icons with lots of padding around interface elements. Many people speculate that Apple probably designed the OS with touchscreens in mind.
