Apple’s Spring Loaded event is now the event by which all other Apple events are judged. I have watched a lot of Apple events, and this event was by far the best. Apple unveiled changes to their credit card and other services and announced four new products (and a new Apple TV) that completely blew me away.

I could write pages about AirTags. And the new iMac, which now comes in seven incredibly delicious, lick-worthy colours, were showstoppers in their own right. But the moment that stole the show for me was when Apple announced that the Apple M1 chip would be coming to the iPad.
What makes the M1 special?
For those of you who are not familiar with the Apple M1 chip, here’s a quick rundown. At the end of 2020, Apple released a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini running on their own, custom-designed chips instead of those made by Intel. The new M1 chip runs on a completely different architecture called ARM, which has the potential to pack more performance into a more energy-efficient package.
