Don’t let the hype fool you, iPadOS 18 is a small update. After introducing some of the most incredible hardware last month at the “Let Loose” event, Apple has once again disappointed iPad fans with yet another sub-par OS release.

iPad power users expected a much improved version of iPadOS which would finally leverage the power of the iPad’s amazing hardware. Instead, we got the same old iPadOS, with some aesthetic updates and, drumroll please, a Calculator app.

But instead of complaining about what we didn’t get, let’s run through some of the new features.

Apple Goes Full Android

You can’t help but wonder if Apple fired all its UI designers and threw all sense of taste out the window when they created the latest version of iOS and iPadOS. The new OSes have a distinctly Android feel about them as you can customise many new areas of the home screen. Now you can theme your home screen icons using colour tints which can result in some truly hideous designs. Gone are the days of apps having control over how their users perceive their brand.
